REIGNITE Powers the M.H. Omar Championship 2026 as Official Beverage Partner
REIGNITE was the Official Beverage Partner of the M.H. Omar Championship 2026, held from 22 to 24 May at the Air Sports Club in Rajagiriya. Over three days, the courts drew a steady mix of seasoned competitors and first-time players, and we were on the sidelines keeping everyone refreshed between matches.
Sri Lanka’s biggest pickleball event yet
The championship marked the first major tournament at the Air Sports Club, the new sport-and-wellness venue on Cotta Road that opened earlier this year. With a prize pool of over LKR 2 million — among the largest ever offered for pickleball in Sri Lanka — it pulled in a strong field across recreational and competitive divisions, starting with round-robin play before moving into the knockout rounds.
The event was held in memory of M.H. Omar, the entrepreneur known to friends and colleagues as “Major,” whose name the tournament carries. That gave the weekend a sense of occasion beyond the scorelines: players were competing for a trophy with a story behind it.
Pickleball is still young here, but anyone who watched a few rallies could see why it is catching on. It is quick to learn, easy to get hooked on, and just as social off the court as it is competitive on it. The atmosphere over the three days reflected that — close matches, loud support, and a lot of people staying long after their own games had finished.
Why REIGNITE was there
REIGNITE is built on Ceylon tea, with ginger and cinnamon and no artificial additives. That is a simple proposition, and a tournament full of active people is exactly the kind of place it belongs. Between matches, players and spectators could reach for something brewed from real tea rather than the usual options.
We poured across all three days, and the response told us a lot. Plenty of players were trying REIGNITE for the first time, and the ginger-and-cinnamon profile landed well with a crowd that had just spent an hour on court in the heat. A cold REIGNITE turned out to be a natural fit for the moment between games.
Supporting an event like this is straightforward for us. REIGNITE is made for people who are out doing things, and pickleball at the Air Sports Club drew precisely that audience — a community that cares about staying active and is open to trying something different.
Looking ahead
The M.H. Omar Championship set a high bar for what a local pickleball event can be, and the Air Sports Club looks set to host plenty more. We would be glad to be back.
Congratulations to everyone who played, to the winners, and to the organisers who put the whole thing together. Thanks as well to the spectators who turned up and kept the energy high all weekend.
